My name is George Fulton, and I live in Pleasanton, Califonria in the US.

My first ancestors in Alt Moletein are Klemens Czech and Magdalena Woletz, who were married 3 Nov 1800.

Klemens Czech was born about 1767/68, possibly in Kornitz (Kornice); his parents are uncertain.

Magdalena was born Jul 1778 in Alt Moletein #20, the daughter of the judge Johann Woletz and his wife Johanna Chornitzer (or Kornitzer).

Hi George,

in the church book of Alt-Moletein (marriages) is written Nov 3, 1800:
(Exact translation not possible because of the "old" German)

groom
Klemens Andreas Czech from dominion Hochwald in Ostrawitz (today the area where the Czech, Slovak and Polish borders meet), "Revierjäger" (something like a forest official) and legal son of the deceased Laurenz Czech, former "Revierjäger" in Kornitz
33 years of age, unmarried

Bride
Magdalena, legal daughter of Johannes Wolitz (Woletz), Erbrichter from #20 Alt-Moletein.
22 years of age, unmarried

Best men
Johann Chornitz, tax collector from Hohenstadt (today Zabreh)
Joseph ? (unreadable, maybe Kniesch? or similar) musician and forest farmer from Mürau (today Mirov)

How did the groom came to Alt-Moletein?
On Jun 27, 1799 at the marriage of an Andreas Bauer with an Anna Maria Koß?, daughter of Johann Franz Koß?, Oberjäger (he was the chief of the forest officials there, the owner of the forests there, I guess was the Archbishop of Olmütz (Olomuce)) from Beerhof ("Beer"-manor)
One of the Best Men at this marriage was Klemens Czech, "young hunter" (an apprentice for becoming a forest official).

It seems he had finished his apprenticeship before his marriage in Nov 1800 and had got a job in this Hochwald, far away from Alt-Moletein.

But: The name Czech is not uncommon in the area of Alt-Moletein.
e.g. Churchbook Moletein, Deaths:
May 5, 1728 Georg Czech was buried in Kaltenlautsch, a man 80 years of age,
" so as burnt in the wood"

Dear George,

a warm welcome to this group. I hope you will be successful and I saw that you got already the first reply from Christian.
Well, the church records for Alt-Moletein (Stary Maletin) are available online: http://matriky.archives.cz/matriky_lite/MenuBar.action?_sourcePage=D4KT8F1Wbd-8hlwpp5GHS1hSPWS0E7qr&activ=UVOD
There is an English version of the web site as well. For the church records you have to filter by the Czech name of the place; e.g. Stary Maletín.
The farm in Alt-Moletein No. 20 does not exist any longer. It was demolished in the 1980's. At that plot they have put a building for the village administration, a kind of town hall.
The information about the "Erbgericht" (farm No. 20) is quite limited because the relevant pages in the land register are missing.
The records in the landregister only start form 1750 onwards.
If you have further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Dear George,

please find below the link to the "Moletein Book" from Jesse Clark's homepage.
It is a translation of the book that has been prepared in the 1980's.

Christian

Thank you very much. I have already seen this record, but parts of it I was not able to read.

Your help has identified Klemens Czech's father.

Dear George,

well, the book was prepared in the 1980's as I said before and it is always a good starting point. The authors used their personal notes and what they recalled from their memory. In addition those sources were used, which were accessible in Western Germany and Austria. Today the situation is completely different, as we now have full access to the the Czech Archives, the church records, land register and other sources. Therefore, do not hesitate to ask, if something is unclear or further information is needed.
